đ Exciting News from the MONITOR Project! đ
Weâre thrilled to announce the launch of the MONITOR project, which aims to deploy a fleet of four underwater micro-AUVs, each equipped with specialized measuring instruments. Together, these AUVs will provide a comprehensive overview of marine biodiversity, soundscapes, pelagic species distribution, and benthic habitat structure.
Why is this Innovative?
Our YUCO micro-AUVs are gaining significant attention from CNRS for their potential to democratize sophisticated, spatialized measurements. Here are some key advantages of our new fleet over traditional methods:
đ New Possibilities: Equipped with cutting-edge sensors like eDNA collectors and echo sounders with integrated image interpretation, weâre opening doors to new types of environmental studies.
đ° Cost-Effective: Weâre reducing measurement acquisition costs by up to 50%, requiring fewer resources for deployment.
â Reduced Risk: With each AUV only costing about âŹ50,000, losing one wonât derail the entire campaign.
đ Simplified Data Collection: Our AUVs can be deployed simultaneously or sequentially, streamlining the data acquisition process.
đ Democratization of AUVs: Designed for ease of use, our AUVs make advanced marine research accessible to more users than ever before.
Recent Deployments:
Successful sea trials have already taken place in Brest and Groix, Brittany, thanks to the collaboration of our partners.
Partners:
- SEABER: AUV design and navigation
- PRISTINE ROBOTICS: Mobile robot design, control, perception algorithms, and AI
- CNRS-LEMAR: Oceanology expertise, field knowledge, and biomass data
This project is co-financed by the European Union and La RĂ©gion Bretagne. đ
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of marine exploration!
